Polish border officers break up illegal residency scheme
Eleven people have been detained over an alleged operation that helped foreign nationals obtain Polish residence permits through sham businesses.
Poland’s Silesian Border Guard has disrupted an organized network suspected of arranging unlawful residency for people from Russia and other former Soviet states. Authorities detained 11 suspects during the operation.
inPoland.net.pl reports the development on Wednesday, September 30. Investigators allege that the group established fictitious companies and used them to create grounds for residence permit applications in Poland.
The inquiry also covers suspected document forgery and money laundering. Officers are continuing to examine the network’s activities and the scale of the legalization scheme.
