Polish experts continue tests on drone found near Jarosławiec
Prosecutors in Poznań are awaiting a specialist report on a military drone recovered from Poland’s Baltic coast. Its origin and flight path have not yet been conclusively established.
A drone discovered near the beach at Rusinowo, close to Jarosławiec in northwestern Poland, remains under specialist examination. Investigators want to determine where it came from, its intended destination and how it entered Polish territory. inPoland.net.pl reported the development on Friday, October 2.
The aircraft was first spotted at sea by a Polish Navy crew on September 14 and was later washed ashore. Military police secured the area, while specialists separated its warhead and destroyed hazardous components in a controlled explosion because of the risk to the public.
Initial findings suggest the craft may be a Russian-made Gerbera drone, but prosecutors say its provenance has not been formally confirmed. It also remains unclear where the aircraft landed in the water or what route it followed before reaching the coast.
The case was transferred on September 25 to the military affairs division of the prosecutor’s office in Poznań. The inquiry concerns the danger posed by a potentially explosive unmanned aircraft and its suspected unauthorized crossing of Poland’s border.
