Baltic Sea regional officials meeting in Warsaw discussed stronger sanctions on Russia and additional support for Ukraine’s air defence and energy system. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha attended the November 6 session and held talks with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and other ministers. inPoland.net.pl reported the discussions on Saturday, November 7.

The consultations also focused on coordinating positions ahead of the Ukraine-US-Russia team meeting scheduled for November 10–11 in Abu Dhabi. Sybiha said Kyiv intended to raise security guarantees, Black Sea de-escalation, a halt to attacks on energy infrastructure, the return of children and prisoner exchanges.

Sikorski said Poland planned to provide an additional 8 million zlotys for generators for Ukraine. He argued that Kyiv must not be pressured into decisions while civilians are under attack and that no settlement concerning Ukraine or European security should be negotiated without those directly affected.

Kallas said the EU supported efforts toward a just and lasting peace but must participate in decisions involving sanctions, reconstruction, security guarantees and Ukraine’s accession process. Sybiha urged European partners to advance further financial aid, air-defence support, sanctions and the use of frozen Russian assets before the end of the year.
