Democrats are projected to capture both the House of Representatives and the Senate following the November 3 US midterm elections. Major media outlets expect a substantial majority, but the precise allocation of seats has not yet been established as votes continue to be counted.

Radio Svoboda reported the preliminary outcome on Wednesday, November 4. Democratic Senate candidates recorded notable victories in Republican-leaning territory, including James Talarico in Texas, Sherrod Brown in Ohio and Troy Jackson in Maine.

Michigan voters elected Abdul El-Sayed, making him the first Muslim chosen for the upper chamber of Congress. House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries described the emerging result as a victory for the country and is viewed as the leading contender to become speaker.

President Donald Trump said he would accept the congressional election results and cooperate with Democrats if their victory is confirmed. The incoming 120th Congress is scheduled to be sworn in on January 3, 2027.
