Foreign ministers attending the Group of 20 meeting in Atlanta declined to take the traditional joint photograph on October 30. Several delegates said they did not want to be pictured with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Radio Svoboda reported the development on Friday, October 30. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said there would be no photograph involving Lavrov because relations with Russia were not normal. Poland's Radoslaw Sikorski described Lavrov's attendance as an awkward moment, while Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded with a mocking remark.

The gathering runs through October 31 and includes discussions on Russia's war in Ukraine. The agenda also covers US and Israeli military action in Iran, disruption affecting oil tanker transit through the Strait of Hormuz, US tariffs and China's activities in the South China Sea.

US President Donald Trump previously invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit due in December. Trump suggested Putin could make significant decisions there and might meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow had not yet decided whether Putin would attend.
