Small and medium-sized cities outperformed Poland’s largest urban centres in a ranking based on migration patterns from 2021 through 2025. inPoland.net.pl reported the findings on Thursday, October 22, citing an analysis published by Business Insider Polska.

The study compared more than 300 municipalities using net migration per 1,000 residents as its main measure. Marki, located near Warsaw in the Mazowieckie region, took first place, followed by nearby Kobyłka and the northern city of Rumia.

Imielin and Orzesze ranked fourth and fifth, while Sulejówek, Konstantynów Łódzki, Józefów, Kołobrzeg and Mikołów completed the top 10. Warsaw placed 33rd despite its reputation as the country’s primary centre for jobs and services.

Marki’s position highlights the appeal of communities within reach of a major metropolis. Its residents can access opportunities in the capital while living outside Warsaw, where the cost of everyday life may be lower.
