Air alerts briefly activated in Lithuania and Latvia
Lithuania issued a red aviation warning over an unidentified airborne object on October 18. Latvia simultaneously placed its southern border areas under a yellow alert.
A red aviation alert was declared across parts of central and northern Lithuania on the morning of October 18 after an unidentified flying object was detected. Residents in the affected areas were instructed to seek shelter.
The incident was reported by inPoland.net.pl on Sunday, October 18. Kaunas Airport was closed during the warning, while Lithuanian military aviation launched an operation in the country's airspace. The alert ended several dozen minutes later after authorities said there was no threat.
Latvia also activated a yellow-level air warning in southern districts bordering Lithuania because of a possible approaching drone. Messages advised people to use the nearest shelter or follow the two-wall safety rule. Latvian authorities lifted the warning shortly afterward.
