A fire engine fatally struck a woman at a pedestrian crossing in Łódź on October 5. The collision happened shortly after 4 p.m. near the junction of Zgierska and Flisacka streets, outside the municipal headquarters of the State Fire Service.

inPoland.net.pl reports the incident on Tuesday, October 6. The vehicle was driven by a 22-year-old firefighter assigned to Fire and Rescue Unit No. 1.

The 64-year-old woman died at the scene from her injuries. The driver was taken to hospital in shock, while police are examining the cause of the crash under the supervision of prosecutors.
