Odesa region restricts beach access after holiday season
Public access to designated Black Sea beaches will be limited once the seasonal authorization expires. Residents and visitors have been urged to stay away from coastal recreation areas.
Access to approved beach zones in Ukraine’s Odesa region is restricted after the end of the annual health and recreation season. The Telegram channel @odesaoda reported the safety measure on Monday, October 5.
For the fourth consecutive year, the season’s opening and closing have been regulated by joint orders from the Odesa operational-tactical group and the regional military administration. Only stretches of the Black Sea coast that have undergone safety inspections are included in the list of areas open to visitors.
Once the order is no longer in force, regular water monitoring, seabed inspections and checks for explosive hazards are not continuously provided. Lifeguard posts also cease operating, prompting the authorities to ask residents and tourists to avoid the beaches and follow safety rules.
