Five detained after Slovak woman rescued from Warsaw hotel
Polish officers found a 23-year-old Slovak woman allegedly held against her will in Warsaw. Four suspects have been remanded in custody while the investigation continues.
Police in Warsaw rescued a 23-year-old Slovak citizen from a hotel and detained five men: three Slovaks and two Ukrainians. inPoland.net.pl reported the operation on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The search began after the woman’s mother alerted Slovak authorities, who then contacted police in Poland. The young woman had left home after being offered work at a wholesale store, but the journey did not unfold as promised and the group stopped in the Polish capital.
Investigators say she realized in Warsaw that she was not free to leave and managed to send word to her mother. Officers from the Wawer district reached the hotel, secured the woman and placed her in the care of paramedics.
One of the five detained men was questioned as a witness. Two Slovak nationals, aged 52 and 33, and two Ukrainian nationals, aged 45 and 51, were charged with unlawfully depriving a person of liberty for more than seven days. They face up to 10 years in prison and have been ordered into three months of pretrial detention.
