Death toll from Komyshuvakha strike rises to 55
Rescuers recovered the remains of nine more victims from rubble in the Zaporizhzhia region settlement. Search operations have entered a sixth day.
The death toll from the November 2 Russian strike on Komyshuvakha has climbed to 55 after emergency crews found nine more victims beneath the debris over the past day.
Radio Svoboda (svoboda.org) reported the updated toll on Saturday, November 7, citing Ukraine’s State Emergency Service. Rescue teams and canine units continued searching the site despite the threat of renewed attacks.
Acting Zaporizhzhia regional administration head Mykhailo Semikin said the operation was in its sixth day. Komyshuvakha lies close to the front line and is regularly exposed to Russian shelling.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously said Russian forces had dropped nine aerial bombs on the settlement. According to him, people collecting humanitarian aid at a distribution point inside a closed school were struck first, followed by rescuers and police who arrived at the scene.
