Police officers carrying submachine guns are patrolling Warsaw as Polish authorities strengthen security in response to potential sabotage threats. Extra police, military and border guard units have also been sent to the frontier with Russia.

inPoland.net.pl reported the measures on Wednesday, November 4. Police said the heightened posture was linked to current risks involving sabotage and other subversive activity.

A letter signed by deputy police chief Tomasz Michułka instructed regional commands and riot-control units to remain ready for immediate deployment from November 2 through November 8. The document, circulated on X, also specified equipment including submachine guns, Kevlar helmets and protective vests.

The security steps follow an incident reported by Prime Minister Donald Tusk on November 3. He said Polish services had prevented an attempted provocation after people carrying flashlights were observed on the Russian side of the border, although no crossing into Poland was recorded.
