Ukrainian teenager detained over Warsaw bomb threat and extortion demand
A 15-year-old boy allegedly demanded 300,000 zlotys from a Warsaw company and threatened to plant explosives. The case has been referred to a family court.
Warsaw police have detained a 15-year-old Ukrainian national suspected of sending an electronic message demanding 300,000 zlotys from a company in the Polish capital. The sender allegedly warned that explosives would be placed in the firm’s building if the money was not paid.
inPoland.net.pl reported the case on Tuesday, November 3. The incident occurred several days earlier in the Wilanów district, while officers from Mokotów handled the investigation.
Police said the message also allegedly included threats to kill company employees because of their nationality. The teenager, who lives in Piaseczno, was subsequently detained.
Because the suspect is a minor, the proceedings were transferred to a family court. The court ordered his placement in a district correctional facility, while investigators classified the suspected acts as extortion-related robbery, triggering a false alarm and nationality-based threats.
