German gross domestic product increased by 0.2% in the third quarter of 2026 from the previous three-month period after adjustments for prices, seasonal patterns and calendar effects. Destatis reported the preliminary estimate on Friday, October 30.

Household and other consumption expenditure made a slightly positive contribution compared with the second quarter. Investment moved lower, while exports lost much of the strong momentum seen during the first half of 2026.

On an annual basis, output was 1.3% above its third-quarter 2025 level in price-adjusted terms. The calendar-adjusted increase was 1.2%. The statistics office also reviewed its first- and second-quarter calculations but left the previously published quarterly real GDP results unchanged.

Destatis is due to release a more detailed breakdown of Germany’s third-quarter economic performance on November 25.
