A Lviv Regional Council resolution designating 2027 as a year commemorating the UPA, Roman Shukhevych and Oleh Olzhych has not been signed and is not in force. inPoland.net.pl reported the clarification on Friday, October 30.

Lviv regional administration chief Maksym Kozytskyi confirmed the status of the measure in a letter to Silesian Marshal Wojciech Saługa. The Silesian marshal's office released the correspondence on October 28, after Saługa had warned that the council's action was damaging ties between Poland and Ukraine.

Regional lawmakers approved the proposal on October 20, saying it was intended to honor figures they considered important to Ukrainian history. The document was initially posted on the council's website but later disappeared as Polish national and local officials voiced strong objections.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry separately described the initiative as counterproductive to current efforts to strengthen bilateral relations. It called for restraint and professional dialogue on sensitive historical disputes, while reaffirming Kyiv's commitment to resolving disagreements with Warsaw through diplomatic channels.
