Obolon’s Feshchenko awaits follow-up scan during recovery
Oleksandr Feshchenko is rehabilitating from a serious injury to his right ankle area. A new MRI will guide the next phase of his return.
Obolon player Oleksandr Feshchenko is recovering after being diagnosed with grade-two avascular necrosis of the talus. FC Obolon reported the details on its website on Thursday, October 15.
Feshchenko said he initially underestimated the injury after rolling his right ankle twice in the build-up to the season. He kept training but asked to be substituted during the first half of the opening-round game against Epitsentr. An MRI later revealed a deeper problem than the ligament damage he had expected, with the initial recovery estimate set at three months or more.
The footballer said his rehabilitation remains on schedule and that he is due to undergo another MRI in several weeks. That examination is expected to show how the injury is healing and whether he can move closer to full training, although no firm comeback date has been set.
Away from the pitch, Feshchenko is treating the interruption as an opportunity to reset, spend time with people close to him and mature in his outlook. He said he misses the full team environment most and thanked teammates and supporters who have stayed in contact.
