Wrocław Airport Plans New Military Fire Station
A dedicated fire-service facility will be constructed in the military section of Wrocław-Strachowice Airport as part of a wider APOD infrastructure program.
A contract for a new military airport fire station was signed at Wrocław Airport on Tuesday, October 13. The facility, including a watchtower for the military fire service, is planned for the part of Wrocław-Strachowice Airport where a US loading and unloading base known as APOD is being developed.
inPoland.net.pl reported the agreement on Wednesday, October 14. It was concluded between Wrocław’s regional infrastructure authority and construction company PORR SA.
The fire-service building is one of five projects covered by a package valued at around half a billion zlotys. The contract also calls for an apron with four stands for C-5 Galaxy aircraft, another with three stands for C-130 Hercules planes, taxi routes leading to the APOD ramp and a building containing a technician’s workstation.
Completion of construction and certification of the upgraded infrastructure are scheduled for 2029. The airport is expected to be able to handle military aircraft using the new facilities from that point.
