Ukraine’s railways honor 1,220 workers killed during war
The railway community commemorated 1,220 employees who have died since Russia’s full-scale invasion began, sending a memorial train on its journey.
Ukraine’s railway community marked Railway Worker’s Day by remembering 1,220 employees killed since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Telegram channel @UkrzalInfo reported the tribute on Wednesday, November 4.
Rail staff have kept passenger services running, driven trains, repaired tracks and restored connections following attacks. The work has continued despite persistent danger and, in some cases, risks to employees’ lives.
A locomotive whistle accompanied the departure of the “Train of Iron Memory” in honor of those who did not return home. The tribute emphasized that every operating service depends on the people working across Ukraine’s railway network.
