Zelensky awards Melania Trump Ukraine’s Order of Princess Olga
The US first lady was honored for humanitarian work supporting Ukrainians affected by Russia’s war and helping return displaced children.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded Melania Trump the Order of Princess Olga, First Class. The decree, signed on November 2, credits the US first lady with making a significant contribution to humanitarian assistance and human rights efforts involving Ukrainians harmed by Russian aggression.
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported the decision on Wednesday, November 4. Neither Zelensky nor the White House had commented on the award when the information was published.
Melania Trump has been involved in efforts to bring back children taken from Ukraine to Russia following the 2022 invasion. Her mediation has helped secure the return of several dozen children and the reunification of dozens of Ukrainian and Russian families, according to the report. Both Kyiv and Moscow have also cited her role in a humanitarian truce in Oleshky, where several hundred civilians were evacuated amid shortages of food and essential supplies.
She is scheduled to address the situation in Oleshky on November 5 and meet Ukrainian and Russian representatives at the White House. Media reports have named possible members of both delegations, but their participation has not been officially confirmed.
