Needle Found in Halloween Candy in Poznań
Parents in the Świerczewo district discovered a sharp metal object while checking sweets collected by their children. No injury was reported.
A family in Poznań’s Świerczewo district found a needle inside a piece of candy brought home by children after Halloween activities on October 31. The sweets had been collected from nearby homes, and the object was spotted during a check by the parents before the candy was eaten.
inPoland.net.pl reported the incident on Sunday, November 1. The parents photographed the needle and the collected treats and said they intended to notify police, but could not identify which household had handed out the particular candy.
If a complaint was filed, investigators were expected to establish the children’s route, interview the family and examine any available surveillance footage. The wrapper, candy and needle could also serve as evidence. The source did not confirm that an investigation had begun or that a suspect had been identified.
Any criminal charge would depend on whether the object was placed deliberately and on the level of danger created. Polish law provides possible imprisonment for intentionally exposing another person to an immediate risk of death or serious harm.
