Lviv Region Sets Energy Resilience Priorities Through 2034
Regional officials and industry stakeholders have outlined measures to strengthen local energy security. The proposals are intended to shape Lviv’s 2028–2034 development strategy.
Officials, energy companies, businesses, municipalities and sector experts met in the Lviv region to assess energy security challenges and define priorities for greater regional autonomy. The discussions focused on practical measures that could support communities and essential services during supply disruptions.
The Telegram channel @people_of_action reported the outcome on Wednesday, October 28. The Lviv Regional State Administration organized the session with support from the Power4Just Transition project, implemented by GIZ on behalf of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
Participants identified distributed and locally controlled generation, upgrades to heating infrastructure, diversified energy sources and improved efficiency as core objectives. They also proposed expanding the potential of local gas production. These initiatives are expected to be incorporated into a new energy section of the region’s development strategy for 2028–2034.
First Deputy Head of the regional administration Andriy Hodyk said resilience was essential not only for infrastructure but also for the uninterrupted operation of communities, businesses and public services. Deputy Energy Minister Valentyna Moskalenko stressed the need to align national policy with regional capacity, including resilience plans and reliable autonomous supply systems.
