Ukraine’s state railway has installed 33 primary mobile shelters at rail facilities in Kyiv and Kyiv region. The Telegram channel @UkrzalInfo reported the deployment on Wednesday, October 21.

Ukrzaliznytsia plans to add 128 shelters in and around the capital and nearly 650 in other parts of Ukraine. The expansion is intended to address prolonged combined Russian attacks involving drones and missiles.

Priority locations include infrastructure essential to train operations and stations where the railway has no other protective facilities. The operator said the modular units have already helped shield railway personnel during drone strikes.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the company has installed 434 primary mobile shelters in total. The program forms part of Ukrzaliznytsia’s resilience plan to improve staff protection and keep trains running during extended attacks.
