Odesa region veterans meet for adaptive sports contest in Serhiivka
War veterans competed across several adaptive disciplines at the second regional event in Serhiivka. The gathering also helped identify athletes for future nationwide competitions.
Veterans from communities across the Odesa region gathered in Serhiivka for the second open regional adaptive sports competition. The event was held ahead of Ukraine’s Defenders Day and Veterans Day.
The Telegram channel @odesaoda reported the event on Thursday, October 1. The competitive schedule included table tennis, archery, pétanque, field hockey and rowing on Concept2 indoor machines.
Beyond the official standings, participants could try darts, chess, checkers, billiards, cornhole, stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking. The program was designed not only around athletic performance but also around peer contact, shared experience and mutual encouragement.
Organizers said the competition offered a route for selecting athletes to represent the region at national events. At the closing ceremony, the Yasky community received sports equipment from the regional administration to expand local training opportunities for veterans.
