Lviv Region Sets Rules for Starting Heating Season
Local communities will decide when to switch on heating based on weather conditions. Hospitals, schools and kindergartens may request an earlier start.
Lviv regional governor Maksym Kozytskyi has signed an order setting out the procedure for the new heating season. The Telegram channel @people_of_action reported the decision on Friday, October 16.
Under the order, communities may begin supplying heat after the average daily temperature remains at or below 8°C for three consecutive days. Each municipality will make its own decision, taking local weather into account.
Heating can be activated earlier in hospitals, schools, kindergartens and other social institutions. Their managers must submit written applications if conditions require buildings to receive heat before the general threshold is reached.
An operational task force is also due to be established to support the region through the autumn and winter. The relevant department of the regional administration will monitor heating services until the season ends.
