Ukrzaliznytsia has evacuated almost 10,000 people from eastern Ukraine since the beginning of the year. The railway carried nearly 200 evacuees in the first 10 days of October alone, including 10 children and 15 people with limited mobility.

Telegram channel @UkrzalInfo reported the figures on Saturday, October 10. On October 8, an evacuation carriage attached to train No. 21 from Kharkiv to Lviv transported 27 people and three cats. A day earlier, 16 people, five cats and one dog made the journey; one of the passengers was a child.

No tickets are required for evacuees or their pets, but travelers must register in advance with volunteers or local authorities so enough places can be arranged. The operation is supported by the Humanitarian Coordination Center, the Proliska organization and the Donetsk regional administration.
