Apple Retail Checks Trigger Over UAH 500,000 in Penalties
Ukrainian tax inspectors found five cases in which iPhone 18 buyers were not given fiscal receipts. The violations were uncovered during a wider review of Apple device sales.
Ukraine’s tax authorities have stepped up scrutiny of mobile phone and accessory retailers following the official launch of Apple’s 18-series products in the country. The State Tax Service reported the findings on Friday, October 2.
As part of the monitoring campaign, officials placed 137 pre-orders for new Apple phones, smartwatches and other products in September. Eighteen test purchases of the iPhone 18 were then conducted to check whether sellers followed payment registration rules.
Inspectors identified five transactions completed without a registered cash register or its software equivalent and without a fiscal receipt being issued. The resulting financial penalties total more than UAH 500,000.
The agency said retail chains should properly record payments and provide receipts to customers. Buyers who encounter suspected violations can submit a complaint through the TAX Control service available on the tax authority’s website.
